Protecting construction machinery

Autonomous functions for construction machinery is a key requirement for new generations of vehicles. This helps manufacturers increase the efficiency of the machine, while vehicle operators are provided increased safety at vehicle and construction site level. Autonomous construction machinery also helps resolve skilled worker shortages.

SCS monitors loads for autonomous function

E-T-A has many years of experience in protecting and switching loads. Together with a leading construction machinery manufacturer, E-T-A is working on the vehicle architecture of the future in this area. The aim is to realise the necessary autonomous functions. The focus is on the continuous monitoring of sensors and loads, the early detection of potential faults, the cost-efficient scheduling of maintenance work and comprehensive remote diagnostics.

The fully electronic, CAN-capable SCS module monitors the power supply protection for the cameras, radar and LiDAR sensors. It also protects rotating beacons, work lights and fans. The precise, continuous current measurement enables both precise monitoring of the sensors and predictive maintenance of dirty fans and drives. In the event of a fault, diagnosis can be carried out remotely. This allows you to decide whether an on-site service is necessary or not. Both the increased machine availability and the more economical use of resources in service reduce costs considerably.
