Solution for increased requirements

The decentralisation of oil and gas production is increasing and requires robust electrical components. A major European plant manufacturer therefore relies on the ESX10 plug-in circuit breaker with 18plus module from E-T-A.

Protection and power distribution system for ATEX Zone 2

The decentralisation of production facilities in oil and gas extraction has continued to increase in recent years. This has a direct impact on the electrical components used and poses new challenges for system engineers and builders. A leading European plant engineering company relies on the ESX10 plug-in circuit breaker in combination with the 18plus module.

This solution enables efficient protection of decentralised production facilities. The ESX10 electronic circuit protector protects the control unit and the IO modules. As central elements of the production process, these ensure the reliable extraction of fossil fuels. Due to the decentralised structure, compact control cabinets are often integrated directly into the systems. As a result, the control cabinets are often located in potentially explosive areas and no longer in air-conditioned control rooms. This leads to increased temperatures inside the control cabinets, putting additional strain on the electrical components.

To meet these challenges, E-T-A has extended the permissible temperature range of the ESX10 electronic circuit protector. It now ranges from -40°C to +70°C. This ensures safe operation even in regions with extreme climatic conditions and reduces the need for additional cooling mechanisims.

The combination of an extended temperature range, suitability for use in potentially explosive atmospheres and high flexibility thanks to the pluggability of the circuit protectors makes this solution ideal for use in decentralised oil and gas extraction systems. This is already proving successful for our customer.
